The recent ending credits for Detective Conan have revealed that Takeshi Kusao (Hanamichi Sakuragi in Slam Dunk, Trunks in Dragon Ball) is the new voice of Toru Amuro, replacing Toru Furuya.

Kusao debuted in Episode 1150 of the series.

Furuya was hit by a scandal last year, resulting in the veteran voice actor (who had voiced well-known characters like Mobile Suit Gundam‘s Amuro Ray and Sailor Moon‘s Tuxedo Mask) stepping down from roles such as Toru Amuro and One Piece‘s Sabo.

Miyu Irino took over the role of Sabo and made his debut last August.

Elsewhere, the Dragon Ball Daima anime recast the role of Yamcha, with Ryota Suzuki announced as Furuya’s replacement in October 2024. Furuya was also removed from the cast of the major JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio,
