IDOLiSH7 TV Anime Receives 4th Season, Season 1 Compilation Film & Kikko no Quarter Adaptation (UPDATED) featured image

The IDOLiSH7 mixed-media franchise is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025 with the announcement of a new fourth season for its TV anime series. In addition, a compilation film of the first season is planned, as well as an anime adaptation of the series’ Kikko no Quarter storyline that focused on the group ŹOOĻ,.

Release dates for the fourth season and compilation film have not yet been announced, and it is not yet known what format the Kikko no Quarter adaptation will be. 

The franchise’s most recent concert film, IDOLiSH7 Live 4bit: Beyond The Period, premiered in Japan on May 20, 2023. It was the first “live movie” of the franchise and had two versions that featured different setlists. The “Day 1” version premiered on May 20, 2023 while “Day 2” premiered on May 21, 2023. Audiences were able to choose which version they wanted to watch from May 22. The film features the IDOLiSH7, TRIGGER, Re:vale, and ŹOOĻ groups. 

The IDOLiSH7 franchise began with a 2015 idol rhythm game for iOS and Android. A TV anime series began airing in 2018, followed by a second season in 2020 and a third season in 2022. TROYCA was in charge of the anime series’ animation production, and the company also produced the IDOLiSH7 Vibrato ONA.

Aside from the anime and game, the franchise has also inspired light novels, manga, video games, and music CD releases.

Crunchyroll is streaming all three seasons of IDOLiSH7 and the IDOLiSH7 Live 4bit: Beyond The Period concert film. It describes the main synopsis of the first season as: 

A group of aspiring idols gather at Takanashi Productions and are entrusted with the company’s future. The seven men who have just met represent a variety of totally different personalities. However, they each have their own charm and possess unknown potential as idols. Forming a group, they take their first step together as “IDOLiSH7.” Their brilliantly shining dancing forms onstage eventually begin captivating the hearts of the people. In the glorious but sometimes harsh world of idols, they aim for the top with dreams in their hearts!
