Tomohito Oda‘s Komi Can’t Communicate manga has ended. Its final chapter was published in Issue 9 (2025) of Weekly Shonen Sunday, which was released on January 29 JST.
The 37th and final tankoubon volume of the manga will be released on March 18 JST.
Komi Can’t Communicate got its start in 2016. Viz Media describes the premise of the Shogakukan-published high school comedy as:
Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that’s just the way he likes it. But all that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn’t aloof—she’s just super awkward. Now he’s made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends!
The manga inspired two OLM-produced anime seasons that aired during the Fall 2021 anime season and the Spring 2022 anime season, as well as a live-action drama. The anime was directed by Kazuki Kawagoe (Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead) with Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea director) as chief director, Deko Akao (Unnamed Memory) as series composer, and Atsuko Nakajima (Ranma 1/2) as character designer.
Aoi Koga voiced the titular heroine Shoko Komi in the anime, while Gakuto Kajiwara was the voice of protagonist Hitohito Tadano.
