A new key visual and main voice cast roles have been revealed for the upcoming Araiguma Calcal-dan TV anime series, which will begin broadcasting in Japan in April 2025. The series is a spinoff of the 1977 Araiguma Rascal anime series and franchise.
Another “true character” visual of the main characters was also released this week.
The main voice cast members were announced last month during the anime’s production announcement, but they were cast in undisclosed roles. The updated voice cast now is as follows:
- • Junya Enoki as Acacal
- • Taku Yashiro as Logical
- • Kensho Ono as Subcal
- • Yohei Azakami as Comical
- • Kenjiro Tsuda as Middle
Henry Hirakawa is directing the spinoff anime series, with Ayano Yoshioka (Let’s Make a Mug Too) as character designer, Arisa Okehazama as music composer, and Kisuke Koizumi as sound director. Nippon Animation is handling the animation production. The company previously worked on the production for the Araiguma Rascal series.
Araiguma Rascal was inspired by American writer Thomas Sterling North’s 1963 autobiographical children’s novel Rascal. The 1977 anime series aired as part of Nippon Animation’s World Masterpiece Theater and contained 52 total episodes.
The franchise has been popular in Japan, inspiring various goods and LINE stamps in the country. The main character’s mascot also made costumed appearances at events. A Hatsune Miku figure that cradles Rascal in one of its arms was released last year.
Araiguma Calcal-dan follows the Calcal-dan — a secret society that aims for world domination and is consistently at the top rankings of the world’s most popular companies. The story centers on the society’s Tokyo branch in Japan’s Tama region, which has low business performance and employees working without a raise. Each member of the branch strives to work better each day.
