Netflix Releases New “Mid-Season” English-Dubbed Trailer for Sakamoto Days featured image

Netflix has released a new mid-season English-dubbed trailer for the ongoing TV anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days. The anime’s first cour, consisting of 11 episodes, premiered in Japan on January 11, 2025, while the second cour will air in July 2025. 

Netflix is streaming the anime series worldwide on a weekly release schedule.

Masaki Watanabe (Bakumatsu, Battle Spirits: Mirage) is directing Sakamoto Days, with Taku Kishimoto (Blue Lock) as series screenwriter, Yo Moriyama (Megalo Box director and co-sub character designer et al.) as character designer, and Yuki Hayashi (Haikyu!!, My Hero Academia) as music composer. TMS Entertainment is handling the animation production for the series. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes: 

  • • Tomokazu Sugita as Taro Sakamoto 
  • • Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura
  • • Ayane Sakura as Lu Shaotang
  • • Nao Toyama as Aoi Sakamoto
  • • Ryota Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo
  • • Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto
  • • Miyari Nemoto as Pisuke

The anime is based on the manga by Yuto Suzuki, which began in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on November 21, 2020 and has released 20 tankobon volumes as of January 2025. A 21st volume will be released on March 4, 2025.

Viz Media releases the Sakamoto Days manga in English, describing the main synopsis of the series as:

Taro Sakamoto was once a legendary hit man considered the greatest of all time. Bad guys feared him! Assassins revered him! But then one day he quit, got married, and had a baby. He’s now living the quiet life as the owner of a neighborhood store, but how long can Sakamoto enjoy his days of retirement before his past catches up to him?!
