A new main visual and trailer has been unveiled for the third chapter of the Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199 film series, entitled Gunjo no Asteroid. The third chapter, consisting of episodes 7-10, will begin screening theatrically in Japan starting April 11, 2025.

Gunjo no Asteroid is the third chapter for the 26-episode Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199 anime series, which is also known in Japan as Yamato yo Towa ni: REBEL 3199. A total of seven films will be released. The first film, Kuro no Shinryaku, premiered in Japan on July 19, 2024, while the second film, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki, premiered on November 22, 2024.
Naomichi Yamato (Macross Delta: Zettai Live!!!!!! assistant director) is directing the new anime, with Harutoshi Fukui (Space Battleship Yamato 2205, Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202) as screenwriter, co-scriptwriter, and chief director. Studio Mother is handling the animation production, with Satelight providing production assistance.

Space Battleship Yamato 3199 is a new sequel project to the Uchu Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Kosho -STASHA- film, which was released in Japan in February 2022.
The original Space Battleship Yamato TV series aired in Japan from 1974 to 1975 and inspired several sequel series and films, including the 1980’s Yamato yo Towa ni film. A new film project from Studio Khara will also be produced. The remake anime series began with the 2012-2013 Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
