Fate/strange Fake Unveils Character Visual for Assassin & Jester Karture featured image

A new character visual has been unveiled for the Fate/strange Fake TV anime adaptation, highlighting the nameless Assassin and her body swapping master, Jester Karture. The series will begin airing sometime in 2025, with the first episode already premiering online in November 2024 and on Japanese TV on December 31, 2024.

In addition, a character visual of Orlando Reeve and Caster was released earlier this month.

The main production staff, some of whom are reprising their roles from the Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- TV special, include Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume as directors, Yukei Yamada as character designer, Daisuke Ohigashi as series screenwriter, Kusanagi’s Ayu Kawamoto (Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning) as art director, and Hiroyuki Sawano as music composer. A-1 Pictures is in charge of the animation production.  

Other staff consist of Yohei Miyawaki as compositing director, Takahiro Mogi as color designer, Graphinica’s Shinichi Miyakaze (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) as CG director, and Masanori Tsuchiya as sound director. Yasumasa Koyama is handling the anime’s sound effects.

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:

Fate/strange Fake is based on the light novel series written by Ryohgo Narita and illustrated by Shizuki Morii. The light novels began publication under ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint on January 10, 2015 and have released nine volumes as of March 2024. A manga adaptation drawn by Morii was also launched in January 2015. 

The series previously received a TV commercial storyboarded and unit directed by the TV series’ co-director Takahito Sakazume.

A TV special titled Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn-, premiered at Anime Expo 2023, Crunchyroll, and Japanese television after missing its original premiere as part of an earlier Fate Project New Year’s Eve TV Special. The TV anime series was first announced in July 2023.

Crunchyroll previously streamed the dubbed version of the first Fate/strange Fake episode on its YouTube channel for one week. It has streamed the first episode of Fate/strange Fake and describes the main premise as: 

In a Holy Grail War, Mages (Masters) and their Heroic Spirits (Servants) fight for the control of the Holy Grail — an omnipotent wish-granting device said to fulfill any desire. Years have passed since the end of the Fifth Holy Grail War in Japan. Now, signs portend the emergence of a new Holy Grail in the western American city of Snowfield.
