Dragon Ball’s Masako Nozawa Channels the Nostalgic Showa Era in New Me & Roboco Character Visual & Trailer featured image

The newest character visual and trailer have been unveiled for the upcoming Me & Roboco anime film, showcasing a retro Roboco variant from the “Showa era Gag Manga Worldline.” The film is expected to premiere in Japanese theaters on April 18, 2025.

Many production staff from the TV anime series are working on the new anime film. Akitaro Daichi (Ojamaru) is serving as director, with Michihiro Sato (Delicious Party Precure episode director) as assistant director, Sayuri Ooba (The Demon Girl Next Door Season 2 scriptwriter) as screenwriter, and Yuko Ebara (Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS animation director) as character designer. Gallop is in charge of the animation production. 

Other staff include Manami Koyama (Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer) as art director, Ayami Minowa (Yu-Gi-Oh: VRAINS) as color designer, and Reina Tanimoto as director of photography.

Meanwhile, the anime film’s main voice cast stars:

  • • Shigeru Chiba as Roboco (Classic Sci-Fi Action Worldline) 
  • • Sumire Uesaka as Roboco (Romantic Comedy Worldline) 
  • • Masako Nozawa as Roboco (Showa era Gag Manga Worldline)

The Me & Roboco TV anime series aired for 28 total episodes in Japan from December 5, 2022 to June 19, 2023. Each episode broadcasted for three minutes and was streamed outside of Asia on Crunchyroll. 

The original gag manga series by Shuhei Miyazaki was first launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on July 6, 2020. The series is published under the Jump comics label and has released 20 tankobon volumes as of January 2024. A 21st volume is set for release on April 4, 2025.

VIZ Media releases the Me & Roboco manga in English digitally, and describes the main premise as:

Now that Bondo has his very own OrderMaid, it’s time to show her off to his friends. But will they be able to handle Roboco? And what exactly is the secret behind this special robot?!
