A trailer and theatrical poster for Arata Hirasaka‘s new yuri mecha anime, Volicia of Pluto Chapter Two: Gunjou, were recently released ahead of its April 21 JST premiere at Nagoya’s Osu Cinema.
The film will also have a special screening at Ikebukuro’s Animate Theater on May 5 JST.
Volicia of Pluto Chapter Two: Gunjou was originally slated for a winter 2024 release. It achieved its 1 million yen (~US$6,680) crowdfunding goal in July 2023.
Its predecessor, Volicia of Pluto Chapter One: Gouka, was released on YouTube with an English caption option in that same month. The premise saw high school girl Akio Hoshigami, who loses her chance of becoming a track-and-field runner due to a leg injury, piloting a giant robot that is powered by the soul of her best friend, Ayano Umisoe.
Hirasaka also made 2021’s Vapor Trail and 2022’s Penetrate Blue: -Vapor Trail Another Age 2824-, which can also be found on their YouTube channel as well. A web novel version of Vapor Trail was serialized on Kakuyomu from 2020 to 2021.
