Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix-, a TV anime adaptation of a historical firefighting novel, has been announced with a winter 2026 release date, visual, and teaser video. SynergySP is the animation production studio.
A manga adaptation was announced as well and is coming earlier with a spring 2025 release date.
The premise of Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix- reads:
In the Edo era
A team of heroes saved countless lives.
As a series of mysterious arsons engulf Edo in chaos
The relentless firefighters race to save the city.
The anime is based on Hikuidori, the 2017 first volume of Naoki Prize winner Shogo Imamura‘s Ushuboro Tobigumi series. There are 13 volumes in the series as of 2022.
The books also inspired an audio drama.
