During its stage event at AnimeJapan 2025, Netflix unveiled a new key visual, official trailer, and more cast members for the upcoming Moonrise original anime series. The web anime series will debut exclusively on Netflix on April 10, 2025.
The new trailer highlights some explosive clashes in space and previews the anime’s main theme song “Daijoubu” by AiNA THE END.

Meanwhile, Chiaki Kobayashi and Yuto Uemura are voicing the lead characters Jacob “Jack” Shadow and Phil Ashe, respectively.
Masashi Koizuka (Attack on Titan Season 2 and 3) is directing the anime, with Tow Ubukata (series screenwriter of RWBY: Ice Queendom, Psycho-Pass Season 2 and 3) as series screenwriter, Ayumi Yamada (Attack on Titan Season 2 and 3 sub-character designer) as character designer, Megumi Tomita (Seraph of the End co-main animator) as sub-character designer, Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist and Silver Spoon manga creator) as original character designer, Takuma Ebisu (Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song- mechanical designer) as mechanical designer and co-action animator, Yuko Sera (Attack on Titan Season 3 action animation director) as co-action animator, Satoshi Hashimoto (Spy x Family) as color designer, Hiroshi Tanaka (The Deer King) as compositing director, and Ryo Kawasaki (To Your Eternity) as music composer.
Takaaki Chiba (Bubble) and Taisei Kudo (Attack on Titan Season 3 animation director) are involved as main animators in the series. WIT Studio is in charge of the animation production.
Netflix describes the main synopsis of Moonrise as:
In a not-too-distant future, humanity has established a loosely organized world government with everything managed by an international AI network called Sapientia. People live peaceful lives by loyally obeying its rational decisions. However, Sapientia’s lunar development project, which sends criminals and pollutants to the Moon to maintain Earth’s peace, creates disparity and poverty on the Moon, sparking a catalyst for war. Jacob “Jack” Shadow gets caught up in this conflict after losing his family to a terrorist bombing by the Moon’s rebel army. Vowing revenge, Jack joins the Earth army as a scout on the Moon, only to discover an unexpected leader among the resistance forces.
