During a One Piece stage event at AnimeJapan 2025, it was announced that the main TV anime series will receive an extended recap episode of the ongoing “Egghead” story arc before the series’ return, as well as a new spinoff series of anime shorts titled Koisuru One Piece.
The special recap episode of the Egghead arc will include past scenes that have so far happened in the anime before its extended hiatus. It will premiere in Japan on April 5, 2025, with the first new episode of One Piece (the 1,123rd episode overall) airing immediately after the recap’s broadcast.

The anime series will then air the second new episode (episode 1,124) in the show’s new Sunday Night timeslot on April 6, 2025. GRe4N BOYZ and muque are also performing the new opening and ending theme songs, respectively.

Crunchyroll also confirmed this weekend that it will stream the first two episodes for the returning “Egghead arc” in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Latin America. The 1,123rd episode will premiere on April 5, 2025 and the 1,124th episode will begin streaming on April 6, 2025. The company will also stream the recap special on April 5, 2025, which is expected to run for 83 minutes.
It was also announced at AnimeJapan 2025 that the Koisuru One Piece spinoff manga series will be receiving a series of web anime shorts that will stream daily from April 1, 2025 to April 5, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. JST on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

The main voice cast of Koisuru One Piece will include Ryosuke Kanemoto as Luffy Yamamoto, Ayane Sakura as Nami Koyama, and Yuichi Nakamura as Usopp Nakatsugawa.
Miki Kobayashi is serving as producer for the short anime series, with Yu Kamatani and Hazuki Omoya credited as directors. Hanao Iida is designing the characters, Midori Tanaka is the art director, Emi Nakajima is the color designer, and Kosuke Ohori is the director of photography.
The short series is based on Daiki Ihara’s spinoff gag manga of the same name, which was first serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service on June 18, 2018. Nine tankobon volumes have been released as of April 2022. Ihara put the manga on hiatus in November 2021, but will resume the series on April 10, 2025.
The spinoff manga follows the everyday adventure of high school students that share the same name as members of the Straw Hat Pirates.
