New Food For the Soul TV Anime Trailer Highlights Delicious Comfort Food & UshioReira’s Main Ending Theme featured image

A new promotional trailer for the upcoming Food For the Soul original TV anime series was revealed at AnimeJapan 2025, highlighting several delicious comfort foods and the show’s main ending theme. The series is scheduled to premiere in Japan on April 13, 2025. 

The trailer showcases several dishes such as katsu, egg fried rice, and hamburger, among others. It also previews the main ending theme song “Miso Soup and Butter” by UshioReira (the stage name of Japanese singer-songwriter Reira Ushio). The song will be released as a CD single on April 23, 2025.

Meanwhile, the anime’s opening theme is “Sonna Mon ne” by Japanese singer asmi

Shinya Kawatsura (Non Non Biyori) and Harumi Tohru (The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie assistant director) are directing the series, with Hajime Mitsuda (AKIBA’S TRIP THE ANIMATION character designer) as character designer, Yoshihiro Hiki (Akiba Maid War) as series screenwriter, and Hiromi Mizutani (Non Non Biyori) as music composer. P.A Works is in charge of the animation production.

Atto (Non Non Biyori manga creator) is credited as original character designer, story draft writer, and manga storyboard producer. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast stars:

  • • Ai Kakuma as Kurea Furutachi
  • • Yoshino Aoyama as Shinon Ogawa
  • • Natsune Inui as Tsutsuji Higa
  • • Saya Aizawa as Nana Hoshi
  • • Azuki Moeno as Mokotaro

Atto launched a manga adaptation of the anime on Media Factory’s Comic Alive+ manga website on March 15, 2025, with illustrations by Quro

Crunchyroll will stream Food For the Soul worldwide, outside of Japan. It describes the main synopsis as: 

This is an original animation of the daily lives of five new undergrad college girls. They love delicious, want to have lots of fun together, study hard, and enjoy their college life to the fullest! This is a heartwarming comedy in which the characters eat, laugh, and deepen their friendships.
