A fourth season of the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- anime has been announced.
A teaser video, a visual, and a commemorative illustration drawn by the light novels’ artist Shinichiro Otsuka were released with the reveal, which follows the end of Season 3’s second cour. All provide a look at the dusty, sandy setting of the next phase of Subaru and Emilia’s story, while the illustration also features a new face.
Re:ZERO is based on the MF Bunko J isekai light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki, the first volume of which Yen Press describes as:
Subaru Natsuki was just trying to get to the convenience store but wound up summoned to another world. He encounters the usual things–life-threatening situations, silver haired beauties, cat fairies–you know, normal stuff. All that would be bad enough, but he’s also gained the most inconvenient magical ability of all–time travel, but he’s got to die to use it. How do you repay someone who saved your life when all you can do is die?
The first two seasons of the anime premiered in 2016 and 2020, with the second season having a split-cour format. Re:ZERO Season 3’s first eight-episode cour (“Attack Arc”) premiered on October 2, 2024 JST with a 90-minute special, while the second arc (“Counterattack Arc”) resumed the story on February 5, 2024 JST.
The Re:ZERO light novel series began in 2014 and has 40 main volumes as of March 2025. The story was originally published as a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel.
