A new teaser trailer has been revealed for the anime film adaptation of Strawberry Prince member Jel‘s Toi-san short video series, which details the main staff and Japanese premiere date on July 18, 2025.
The teaser trailer also confirms the anime film’s Japanese title Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! “Baka to SmaPho to Romance to.”
Mankyu (Migi & Dali, Pui Pui Molcar the Movie: MOLMAX) is directing the Toi-san anime film, with Yoichi Kato (Yo-Kai Watch, Duel Masters) as screenwriter, Akemi Kobayashi (Love After World Domination) as character designer, STPR MUSIC and AniTone as music composers, Hiromi Mizutani (Non Non Biyori) as background music composer, and Haru Yamada (Suzume, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-) as sound director. Seven Arcs is handling the animation production.
The returning voice cast for the film includes Jel, who will be playing himself and Akane Toi. He will also perform the film’s main theme song “Mecchya Toi! feat. Jel & Toi-san.”
Jel is involved in the planning, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and character designing in the film. STPR Records and Dentsu are credited with the film’s overall production. Strawberry Prince leader Nanamori. will also be in charge of planning and is serving as executive producer. Shochiku is distributing the film throughout Japan.
The Toi-san comedy short video series began with a video released on Twitter/X in April 2019. The series has inspired over 1,000 videos, totaling over 10 billion views on YouTube, TikTok, and other social media platforms. The series has also inspired an official English study book and a novel.
Toi-san centers on a female high school student named Akane Toi, who encounters a handsome young classmate named Jel on her first day at school.
Strawberry Prince (also known as StPri) previously inspired their own film titled Gekijoban SutoPuri Hajimari no Monogatari: Strawberry School Festival!!!! from LIDENFILMS, which screened in Japanese theaters on July 19, 2024. The boyband members starred as the main voice cast in the film.

Strawberry Prince is a Japanese entertainment idol unit under STPR that was formed in June 2016. They became well known for their popular song covers on Nico Nico Douga, YouTube, TikTok, and other streaming sites. Their YouTube also features video game livestreams and several entertainment videos, as well as performances using illustrated avatars. The members’ real faces are never shown, except during live performances or meetups.
The group’s current members consist of Rinu, Root, Colon, Satomi, Jel, and Nanamori. The group’s leader Nanamori is credited as the film’s original creator, chief production supervisor, and planning producer. His off-stage persona Masato Kashiwabara is credited with the original story.
Strawberry Prince has released several studio albums, mini albums, and extended plays, as well as inspiring their own smartphone game StrawPri With!! and a radio talk show. They also performed theme songs for the Yo-kai Gakuen Y: N to no Sogu and Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress TV anime series. Some members of the group provided voice guest roles for characters in Yo-kai Gakuen.
