This marks the first time Captain Tsubasa will receive an English release. A bilingual edition in Japanese and English was previously released for the “eOneBook” reader device in September 2020.

Takahashi’s original manga ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from March 31, 1981 to May 9, 1988. A total of 37 tankobon volumes were released during its publication.

The manga also inspired several new manga sequels, one-shots, side stories, novels, and video games. It has been adapted in several long-running TV anime series and films, with the most recent installment adapting several story arcs between 2018 to 2024.
