Anime studios Pierrot and Asahi Production, which formed a business partnership with each other in 2024, have entered a business and capital alliance.
Both parties’ announcements say that the alliance was made to further strengthen the cooperation between the two studios and form a tight partnership. They also said that they believed in the effectiveness of having a production environment where both of their strengths can be utilized.
Pierrot will take on Asahi Pro shares as part of the agreement.
The studios said that the earlier partnership had allowed them create a system that utilizes their strengths and allow for the stable production of better quality products. Mentioned strengths include Pierrot‘s ability to be a prime contractor for long-running anime over the years as well as Asahi Pro’s knowhow, technical ability, and overall capabilities, with compositing and CG cited as the centerpoint of those.
Recently, Asahi Pro was credited for the CG and/or compositing in Pierrot productions like Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, Kingdom, and Yatagarasu. In some cases, Asashi Pro also handled areas like special effects or 2D works.
Pierrot was formed in 1979, while Asahi Pro was formed in 1973. Last July, Pierrot rebranded its second studio to PIERROT FILMS.
