Aniplex of America and Crunchyroll announced today that Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train will return to theatres for 4K screenings in the United States and Canada, starting May 14, 2025. The 4K screenings for the anime film will also be available in select international territories and is distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment in North America. 

The film, originally released in 2020, will be shown in both Japanese with English subtitles, as well as dubbed in English. Tickets for the re-release will go on sale on April 30, 2025.

Crunchyroll describes the main synopsis of Mugen Train as: 

In a world riddled with demons, a young man, Tanjiro Kamado, and his comrades investigate the disappearance of passengers aboard a mysterious train as members of the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization dedicated to protecting humanity. With the help of a powerful ally, these Demon Slayers must confront evil in a heroic battle to bring an end to the nightmare!

The 4K screenings will begin ahead of the debut of the Infinity Castle trilogy, which will begin screening in Japan on July 18, 2025. The first installment will premiere exclusively in North American theatres on September 12, 2025, including in IMAX and other premium large formats. It will also be available in both Japanese with English subtitles and English dub.

Aside from the first season and the 2020 Mugen Train anime film, the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime includes the 2019 first season, and the TV broadcast versions of Mugen Train, Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. Five feature length specials also began streaming this past month. 

Koyoharu Gotouge‘s original manga series ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 15, 2016 and concluded on May 18, 2020. A total of 23 tankobon volumes were released. VIZ Media releases the manga in English.

Crunchyroll is streaming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and describes the first season as: 

It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself. 

Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.
