The upcoming Kaiju No. 8 The Game will have an Akari Kito-voiced original character in the form of Sagan Shinomiya, the older adoptive sister of Kikoru Shinomiya.

While Sagan’s weapon of choice is still unannounced, current details reveal that she had moved to the US and joined the American Defense Force after her adoption. She’s also the leader of the special unit CLOZER, short for Closing Order with Zero Restrictions, which is responsible for dealing with the mysterious Kaiju Dimensional Gates that are a central part of the mobile turn-based RPG’s newly revealed premise.

“In this new Kaiju No. 8 world, where Kaiju with unknown powers appear not only in Japan but across the globe,” says the press release. “Identified Kaiju that were once thought to be defeated now confront the Defense Force by passing through these Kaiju Dimensional Gates. On top of that, unknown Kaiju possessing special abilities—and seemingly responsible for the creation of these Kaiju Dimensional Gates—continue to cross over the boundary between dimensions to launch their attacks. Their appearance has led to a series of battles against colossal Kaiju.”

In an official greetings video, Kito spoke of Sagan’s “tough look” and how she “just comes across as so cool.” She added, “I think she’s pretty serious, but she’s also a great and honest person.”

Visuals for the character show a stern-looking individual with an air of authority and an eye-catching coat. There are also visual similarities with Kikoru, namely in the zig-zag form of her ponytail and the shape of her ribbon.

Kaiju No. 8 The Game will be released on App Store, Google Play, and Steam. Pre-registration for the Akatsuki Games-developed title started on April 26 JST, and the global pre-registration count passed 200,000 in May.

Aside from the original narrative, there will also be anime-based story content and character stories.
