The Black Clover anime is returning for a new season, and it has a teaser trailer and teaser visual to accompany the announcement.
Crunchyroll confirmed that it will be streaming the new show. The reveals were first made at Crunchyroll’s Anime Expo 2025 Industry Panel.
The first Black Clover anime series ran from 2017 to 2021 with Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man action director) directing the first half and serving as chief director for the second. It was followed by the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie, which premiere on Netflix in 2023 and was directed by Ayataka Tanemura (Black Clover second half, Fuuto PI assistant director). Studio Pierrot produced the shows.
The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Yuki Tabata, which began in 2015 and has 36 volumes as of February 2024. The manga started serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump and later moved to Jump GIGA in late 2023. MANGA Plus describes the premise as:
Young Asta was born with no magic ability in a world where magic is everything. In order to prove his strength and keep a promise with his friend, Asta dreams of becoming the greatest mage in the land, the Wizard King!
There are also Black Clover spin-off manga, light novels, and video games.
