The Puella Magi Madoka Magica –Walpurgisnacht Rising- anime film is set to premiere in Japan in February 2026. The release window was revealed along with a 30-second trailer and a second key visual, with the latter bearing the tagline, “The world will not exonerate her.”
Additionally, it was announced that the Puella Magi Madoka Magica TV anime’s compilation movies (Hajimari no Monogatari and Eien no Monogatari) will be re-edited into a “TV Edition” that will premiere in Japan this October.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica –Walpurgisnacht Rising- was first announced in April 2021, and was originally set for a winter 2024 release until a delay set it back to winter 2025. The film is the follow-up to 2011’s Puella Magi Madoka Magica and its 2013 sequel film Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion.

While Puella Magi Madoka Magica –Walpurgisnacht Rising- marks the first anime return to the main Puella Magi Madoka Magica series since Rebellion, 2020 to 2022 saw the airing of a TV anime adaptation of the now-defunct Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story gacha game. The spin-off anime had three seasons (the second season had eight episodes, while Final Season had four).
A new Madoka Magica game, Madoka Magica: Magia Exedra, launched on mobile on March 27, 2025 JST and will become available on Steam on July 17.
