The Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Urdr-Hunt -Path of the little Challenger- compilation film is not the only Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans-related anime release that’s coming in the near future — it has been announced that an Iron-Blooded Orphans short, titled Makuai no Kusabi, will be screened together with the compilation.

The new short is set after the Arbrau election and sees the return of staff members like director Tatsuyuki Nagai, writer Mari Okada (IBO‘s series composer), character designer Michinori Chiba, and mechanical designers Naohiro Washio and Kanetake Ebikawa.

Kengo Kawanishi and Yoshimasa Hosoya will reprise their roles as Mika and Orga, respectively.

A trailer for both -Path of the little Challenger- and Makuai no Kusabi was released with the announcement, and there’s also a main visual for the latter. Take a look below:

-Path of the little Challenger- is set to premiere in Japan on October 31 JST. It was announced in late July (before that, an Urdr-Hunt animation project was announced in November 2023) and will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Iron-Blooded Orphans. The original Urdr Hunt was a spin-off game with anime footage — 12 episodes were released via the now-defunct smartphone app Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans G, with the first debuting in 2022. The Gundam Wiki describes the premise as:

It is the year P.D. 323. Gjallarhorn’s political interference in Arbrau escalated into an armed conflict and came to an end thanks to Tekkadan.

News of Tekkadan’s exploits has also reached the ears of Wistario Afam, a young man born and raised at the Radonitsa Colony near Venus. Venus, which lost to Mars in the initial contest for colony development, is a remote planet in which the four economic blocs have little interest. It is now used as a penal colony for criminals, whose inhabitants don’t even have IDs.

Wistario, who hopes to change the status quo of his homeland, encounters a girl who claims to be the guide to the “Urdr-Hunt”.

Meanwhile, the Iron-Blooded Orphans anime series premiered in 2015 and ended in 2017 with two seasons. Netflix describes the show as:

On a terraformed post-disaster Mars, a group of child security agents rebel against the adults who betrayed them and the oppressive Earth government.
