Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary (Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai) is an adaptation of the manga by Yuritaro. In brief, the story is about a kindergartener (the titular Kaya) who beats up bad spirits. Here’s the synopsis from Seven Seas Entertainment:

Kaya-chan is a notorious problem child in her kindergarten, but none of the adults know her secret–till Chie-sensei is put in charge and learns of Kaya-chan’s hidden ability to see evil spirits and vanquish them with a punch! What will happen to this five-year-old who gets in trouble when she’s only trying to help?

Ikehata Hiroshi (Witch Watch, Dark Gathering) is directing the anime at East Fish Studio. The lead cast includes Azusa Tachibana as Kaya-chan and Maya Uchida as Chie-sensei.

The manga is serialized on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website and has seven volumes as of June 2025.
