As part of Fairy Tail‘s 20th anniversary plans, Hiro Mashima‘s fantasy action manga will return to the pages of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on a short-term basis. The new story is set to debut in the combined 36th and 37th issue (2026) of the magazine, which launches on August 5 in Japan.

Aside from the manga’s new serialization, there’s an anniversary trailer set to FUNKIST‘s “Snow Fairy” (the Fairy Tail TV anime’s first opening song) and an upcoming Erza Scarlet bunny girl figure from Sega’s Yumemirize brand that will debut as a prize figure in late October. Additionally, the 328-episode TV anime will be streamed on the Anime Times YouTube channel for a limited time, starting on April 11 in Japan.

An art print exhibition was announced in January and will be held at various locations in Japan, starting on April 9 at Shinjuku I-Land.

Fairy Tail was originally serialized from 2006 to 2017. Kodansha USA describes the synopsis as such:

Cute girl wizard Lucy wants to join the FAIRY TAIL, a club for the most powerful wizards. But instead her ambitions land her in the clutches of a gang of unsavory pirates led by a devious magician. Her only hope is Natsu, a strange boy she happens to meet on her travels. Natsu’s not your typical hero—he gets motion sickness, eats like a pig, and his best friend is a talking cat. With friends like this, is Lucy better off with her enemies?

The Fairy Tail franchise also includes spin-offs, two anime movies, video games, and the Atsuo Ueda-drawn sequel manga Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest manga. Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest debuted on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket in 2018 and has 22 volumes as of December 2025. A 25-episode TV anime adaptation of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest began airing on July 7, 2024 in Japan.
