The Jujutsu Kaisen anime is still some ways off from completion, but fans can now see the sequel/spin-off Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo in animated form, briefly, thanks to a trailer commemorating the May 1 release of Modulo‘s third and final volume.
Included inside the 30-second animation are moments like Yuta Okkotsu’s granddaughter Yuka summoning Mahoraga, the alien Dabura battling the shikigami, and Mahito screaming for original protagonist Yuji Itadori. Aside from Nobunaga Shimazaki‘s voice as Mahito, Yuji’s voice actor Junya Enoki is present to provide the accompanying narration.
The trailer’s director, storyboard artist, and unit director is Shun Miyakawa, who boarded and co-directed the sixth episode of Fate/strange Fake (the episode with Richard vs Enkidu). Miyakawa is also one of the key animators.
Handling the character designs is Sota Yamazaki, who has done chief animation direction work and more for the Jujutsu Kaisen‘s second and third seasons. He’s also one of the two chief animation directors here, alongside Yurika Nakanishi. Other credits include Yuji Kaneko (Tengoku Daimakyo) as background art director, Teppei Ito (Jujutsu Kaisen) as compositing director, and Mana Hayashi and Inori Nishida as color designers. MAPPA produced the trailer, with Masato Matsunaga (Lazarus) as animation producer.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, written by Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami with art by Yuji Iwasaki (artist for the Nisio Isin-written Cipher Academy manga), debuted on MANGA Plus and Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2025 as a short serialization title and ended in March. The synopsis reads:
It’s been 68 years since the Culling Game. In 2086, an alien race known as the Simurians arrive on Earth in a spaceship. The fate of the world lies in the hands of two jujutsu sorcerers Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu. Jujutsu sorcerers and aliens, what chaos will be born from this meeting?
The Culling Game made its debut with Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1, which aired during the Winter 2026 anime season. Season 4 will deliver Part 2 sometime in the future.
