Seven episodes of the upcoming THE ONE PIECE anime are set to drop on Netflix all at once in February 2027. These won’t be regular TV-length episodes either, with the announcement on the THE ONE PIECE X/Twitter account saying that they amount to around 300 minutes.
The post also shares that the WIT STUDIO-produced One Piece remake’s first season will cover the manga’s initial 50 chapters, “following Luffy up to meeting Sanji,” and the press release confirms that the incoming seven episodes will make up the entirety of that season. Additionally, you can check out the newly released concept art of a young Luffy. Kajino Yasuhiro handled the design, art, and coloring, with character supervision from one of the character designers and chief animation directors, Kyoji Asano.
Announced in December 2023, THE ONE PIECE is directed by Masashi Koizuka (Attack on Titan seasons 2 and 3) with Taku Kishimoto (Ranking of Kings) as series composer, Kyoji Asano (Attack on Titan) and Takatoshi Honda (In/Spectre) as character designers and chief animation directors, and Hideaki Abe (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 15 storyboard artist and director, Episode 4 director) as assistant director. A video released by Netflix last month provided a peek at the new show’s character designs and image boards.
The current Toei Animation-produced One Piece TV anime, which began airing in 1999, is still ongoing and entered the “Elbaph Arc” in April 2026. One Piece Heroines, a special episode based on the “episode : NAMI” story from the ONE PIECE novel HEROINES spin-off, will debut on July 5.
In 2025, it was announced that the current One Piece anime would switch to a 26-episode-a-year release schedule, with the episodes divided into two blocks.
The One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997 and has 114 volumes as of March 2026. VIZ Media describes the manga as such:
As a child, Monkey D. Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by listening to the tales of the buccaneer “Red-Haired” Shanks. But his life changed when Luffy accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit and gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again! Years later, still vowing to become the king of the pirates, Luffy sets out on his adventure…one guy alone in a rowboat, in search of the legendary “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world…
A Production I.G-produced OVA was released the same year as the manga’s debut. After the start of the TV anime, there have been a number of anime films, as well as the One Piece Fan Letter special.
Aside from THE ONE PIECE and One Piece Heroines, the upcoming One Piece video content are One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, the third season of Netflix’s live-action series, and LEGO ONE PIECE.
