Music producer TAK has dropped an animated music video for the song “numb numb,” which features vocals from Vocaloids Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto. The animation was produced at WIT STUDIO and directed by Yuki Kamiya, whose directorial credits include Midnight Grand Orchestra’s “Allegro” music video, Kenshi Yonezu’s “Donut Hole” music video, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s “Shibuya Incident Arc” opening, and Chainsaw Man‘s third and eighth endings.
The video depicts the relationship between Teto and Miku, who appear to be fellow dancers-in-training who are drawn to one another, and possesses an ethereal atmosphere. A scene of Miku and Teto dancing with each other in a dreamlike space occurs towards the end.
Illustrator and animator syo5 (Great Pretender image designer) designed Miku and Teto’s looks for the “numb numb” video. They also served as art director and background artist. The latter is a shared credit with Manae Yamatogi, who was a background artist on Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 (and one of the two who did the backgrounds for its opening animation).
Among the other production credits are:
• Animation support: Mami Sonokawa
• Color coordination: Non Takagi
• Director of photography, color design, editor, and producer: Yuki Kamiya
• Animation producer: Kazuki Yamanaka (Spy x Family co-animation producer)
“numb numb” is now available digitally through various platforms. TAK released a teaser for the music video the day before.
Kamiya, syo5, Yamanaka, and WIT STUDIO were previously on the music video for South Korean VTuber agency StelLive’s “STAR TRAIL.”
