A teaser trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4: The Culling Game Part 2 has arrived as part of the MAPPA 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal. Shown in the preview are parts of battles like Hakari vs Kashimo and Yuki and Choso vs Kenjaku, as well as other scenarios involving Maki, Yuji, and Megumi.

Additionally, the credits reveal that Shota Goshozono ((Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17, Ranking of Kings Episode 21, and Chainsaw Man Episode 8 storyboard artist and episode director), who took over as director starting from Season 2 and storyboarded most of Season 3’s episodes, is stepping back to assume a chief director role. The new director is Takeru Sato (ZOMBIE LAND SAGA: Yumeginga Paradise director), one of Season 3’s assistant directors. Sato’s co-assistant director Yosuke Takeda is not listed among the new season’s main staff credits.

Of the listed names, they include returning ones like:

• Series composer and scriptwriter: Hiroshi Seko (since Season 1)
• Character designer: Yosuke Yajima (since Season 3)
• Character designer: Hiromi Niwa (since Season 3)
• Compositing director: Teppei Ito (since Season 1)
• Color designer: Eiko Matsushima (since Season 2)
• Background art director: Junichi Higashi (since Jujutsu Kaisen 0)
• Music composer: Yoshimasa Terui (since Season 1, solo credit since Season 2)

Jujutsu Kaisen adapts the manga by Gege Akutami, in which Jujutsu Sorcerers battle Cursed Spirits in modern-day Japan. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1, which aired during the Winter 2026 anime season, saw Yuji and his allies attempting to stop the schemes of the ancient and formidable Kenjaku, with several of them participating in the titular death game-like Culling Game.

Season 1 of the anime debuted in 2020 and ended in early 2021 after 24 episodes. It was followed by December 2021’s Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel movie (based on the manga’s four-chapter predecessor). Season 2 arrived later in July 2023 and ended in December 2023, with the latter “Shibuya Incident Arc” starting a few weeks after the opening “Hidden Inventory Arc.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, a compilation film for Season 2 that also previewed the first two episodes of the current season, premiered in 2025.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018 (its prequel was serialized in 2017)) and ended in 2024. A sequel titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo started in September 2025 and ended in March 2026.

Viz Media describes Jujutsu Kaisen as such:

Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
