The preview of fledging Jedi Kara’s continuing adventure features a mysterious, masked figure called Nawaam, who declares that they will “bring order to the chaos that surrounds us,” and a scheme to develop an apparent kyber crystal-powered superweapon. Despite the Sith-like presence Nawaam rediates, the trailer suggests that the character is also a Jedi like the main cast, setting the stage for a battle of ideals.
“The Ninth Jedi” was released with the 2021 first season of the Star Wars: Visions anthology. It introduced Kara as a lightsaber maker’s daughter who has to deliver his latest creations, which change color depending on the user, to the Margrave Juro, who seeks to bring back the Jedi in a time of war. A follow-up short, “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope,” was included with 2025’s Star Wars: Visions Volume 3.
Like “The Ninth Jedi” shorts, Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi is produced at Production I.G. The original short was written,, storyboarded, and directed by Kenji Kamiyama, while “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” was directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani.
