A main trailer and main poster for the upcoming We Are Aliens anime film have been revealed along with two more cast members and the movie’s theme song (which can be heard in the trailer).
The new cast announcements for the upcoming drama, which depicts a relationship between two boys that gets strongly shaken by a certain incident, are Sakurazaka46’s Ten Yamasaki and comedian Kemuri Matsui. Yamasaki plays Konatsu, a classmate of co-main character Tsubasa, while Matsui is Batahara. a friend of Tsubasa’s and a secret fan of the other main character, Akitaro.
Meanwhile, the theme song is “Sasakure” by adieu.
We Are Aliens is directed by Kohei Kadowaki, who was previously involved with music videos for YOASOBI’s “Comet,” the Ayase ft. Hatsune Miku song “Yokubari,” and KAF’s “Sore o Sekai to Iun dane.” Kadowaki is the movie’s planner and scriptwriter as well. The NOTHING NEW film label founded in 2022 also has a planning credit and is responsible for the movie’s production (both the creative/anime-making type and the business/finance type). Also part of the production credits are MIYU PRODUCTIONS for cooperation and Yaffle for the music.
Ryota Bando and Amane Okayama are the voices of Tsubasa and Akitaro, respectively.
We Are Aliens will be released in Japanese theaters on September 25. The page for its successful Motion Gallery crowdfunding campaign lists 2027 as a planned international release date.
The movie was shown at Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026 as part of the Feature Film Competition lineup and will be screened at September’s Ottawa International Animation Festival in-competition.
