NITRO ORIGIN has recently revealed the Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO visual novel’s Steam release date to be September 4. The game, titled Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE for this release, will support Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese UI and subtitles.
Previously announced on December 31 (January 1 in Japan), the Steam version of the NITROPLUS neo-noir visual novel comes with “the same content” as the 2013 PC port of the 2012 Xbox 360 release, which featured elements from the 2009 TV anime Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~. This means updated character designs and graphics to “match the TV anime,” the presence of the anime’s voice cast that includes Miyu Irino, Ayahi Takagaki, and Sayuki Sawashiro, the inclusion of the show’s original story content, and a 15+ recommended age rating (the Xbox 360 version had a 17+ rating).
The NITRO ORIGIN website’s announcement lists a tax-inclusive price of 3,500 yen (~US$22).
Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO sees the young Reiji Azuma getting dragged into the life of an assassin after an encounter with Phantom, the most formidable assassin of the criminal organization Inferno, and a girl who is close to his age. It was priginally released in 2000 for PC as an 18+ “Hard-boiled Love Story” and is the debut work of Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Expelled from Paradise, and Song of Saya scriptwriter; Fate/Zero light novel author), who has planning, scenario, and director credits on it. Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO‘s release history includes a 2001 DVD-PG version, a 2003 PlayStation 2 version, and a 2004 release titled Phantom INTEGRATION.
The anime was directed by Koichi Mashimo (Noir, Madlax, El Cazador de la Bruja) at Bee Train.
Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO NITRO ARCHIVE‘s Steam page can be found here. The game’s synopsis reads:

Stripped of his memories, the boy is taken in by Phantom and trained in the art of killing. As he learns, he grows into an assassin capable of standing alongside her, and is gradually drawn into the organization’s conspiracies.
