A TV anime adaptation of The Remarried Empress manhwa series has been announced for a 2027 release. An announcement trailer for the adaptation has been released.

Crunchyroll will stream the anime series when it premieres and also debuted an English-subtitled version of the trailer during its showcase panel at New York Comic Con 2026.

Tetsuya Yanagisawa (Berserk of Gluttony Season 1, Orient) is directing the anime series, with Akiko Inoue (An Observation Log of My Fiancee Who Calls Herself a Villainess) as series composer and scriptwriter, Jun Nakai (NieR:Automata Ver1.1a) as character designer, and Yuki Fukazawa as music composer. TROYCA is in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the main voice cast (whose characters are highlighted from left to right in their character art below) will star:

  • • Yoko Hikasa as Navier
  • • Ryohei Kimura as Heinrey
  • • Tomoaki Maeno as Sovieshu
  • • Reina Ueda as Rashta

The series began as a web novel written by Alphatart that was originally released from November 2018 to March 2020. It was then adapted into a manhwa webtoon series drawn by Sumpul and began serialization on the Naver Webtoon platform in October 2019. The Line WEBTOON platform releases the manhwa in English digitally. Eleven physical volumes have been published as of August 2026. Ize Press licensed the series for release in English print.

A live-action South Korean TV drama series will begin streaming on Disney+ on November 4, 2026.

Crunchyroll describes the synopsis of The Remarried Empress as:

Navier devoted her life to ruling the Eastern Empire beside her husband and childhood friend, Sovieshu. But when he falls for his concubine and demands a divorce, Navier shocks the empire with her response. She accepts and requests a remarriage to Heinrey, a prince of the Western Empire. Now, the fallen empress fights to seize back her future and turn the tables on those who cast her aside!

In a joint press release with companies HAYATE and WEBTOON Entertainment subsidiary LINE Digital Frontier Corporation, Crunchyroll announced that it had established an anime co-production partnership with both companies.

The partnership was announced during Crunchyroll’s showcase panel at New York Comic Con 2026. It will focus on “adapting a slate of WEBTOON series titles into anime,” with the three companies cooperating on the “development stage on potential anime adaptations of around 15 select titles.” The press release states that HAYATE will lead the development and production in collaboration with LINE Digital Frontier and Crunchyroll itself. The latter will then “exclusively stream the resulting anime in select territories.”
