The doppelganger-themed Playing Sister (Onee-chan Gokko) anime has received a teaser movie for its second episode, titled “Investigation” (“Chousa-hen”). No release date was revealed.

Like January’s first episode, the new entry will drop on director HarumakiGohan‘s YouTube channel, niconico, and bilibili.

Playing Sister is tentatively planned to be a three-episode series that will conclude around a year from Episode 1’s January 2026 release. The story features two sisters from a village with a doppelganger legend. There are also songs based on the anime’s setting.

Here’s the synopsis:

“The girl at home with you… isn’t your sister.”

In the distant future, on the outskirts left behind by the rapid concentration of advanced science and technology in urban areas, lies a remote mountain village known as Kagami Village.

“Behave yourself, or a Double will come for you.”

Such old folklore still lingers in this village.

Akane Higure, a middle school student living in Kagami Village, has been eagerly awaiting the return of her older sister, Sui Higure, who is finally being discharged from the hospital after a year.

However, not long after her sister comes home, Akane receives a single phone call.

“The girl at home with you… isn’t your sister.”

HarumakiGohan, a vocaloid producer and illustrator, is Playing Sister‘s director and writer. The production is handled by their Studio Gohan. Episode 1’s YouTube release came with multiple subtitle options, including English and Chinese.
