A key visual for Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Season 3, which teases the villains of “The Stars That Engrave History Arc,” has been released.
The anime previously received its second teaser visual last July. More details about the season, which was announced in March 2023, will be revealed at AnimeJapan 2024 on March 24 JST.
Speaking of AnimeJapan 2024, KADOKAWA also released a separate, more cheery visual featuring Emilia, Rem, and Ram wearing “KADOKAWA ANIME STUDIO guide uniforms.” This visual will be used for some goods that will be sold at the event.
Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- is an adaptation of the KADOKAWA-published light novels written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Ootsuka. The White Fox-produced anime’s first two seasons premiered in 2016 and 2020, with the second having a split-cour format (cour 2 premiered in January 2021). In July 2020, Tsunaki Yoshikawa, the animation producer of the first two seasons, founded Atelier Pontdarc.
The MF Bunko J light novels, which are based on Nagatsuki’s Shousetsuka ni Narou-serialized web novel, started in 2014 and has 36 main volumes as of December 2023. Yen Press describes the first volume of the books as:
Subaru Natsuki was just trying to get to the convenience store but wound up summoned to another world. He encounters the usual things–life-threatening situations, silver haired beauties, cat fairies–you know, normal stuff. All that would be bad enough, but he’s also gained the most inconvenient magical ability of all–time travel, but he’s got to die to use it. How do you repay someone who saved your life when all you can do is die?
Meanwhile, volume 16, the start of “The Stars That Engrave History Arc,” is described as:
A CITY OF HIDDEN DEPTHS! In the year since the Battle of the Sanctuary, Subaru Natsuki has been busy honing his skills alongside Emilia and the other members of their merry band. Still, these peaceful days cannot carry on forever-and it is none other than Anastasia, Emilia’s rival in the royal selection, who brings their respite to an end with an unexpected hand-delivered letter bearing an invitation to the famous Water Gate City of Pristella. Despite their suspicions about the sudden request, they accept and set off for the trade hub that lies at the kingdom’s border. There, among the inviting canals and dazzling streets, await old friends, new faces, and a hidden menace lurking in the shadows!
Aside from the main Re:Zero light novels, there are short story anthologies, side stories, manga, and video games. The manga adaptation of “The Stars That Engrave History Arc” (which uses a different title) started serialization this year.
